The kigezi wildlife reserve is a game reserve established in 1952 in south west of Uganda in Rukungiri district. The site has an area of 265 square kilometers (102 sq mi). The Kigezi wildlife Reserve is made up of plains, savanna and forest. Its vegetation includes woodland, savannah and open grassland. Some of the animals in this reserve include elephants, giant forest hogs, topi, waterbucks, buffaloes, bucks, kobs and a wide range of bird species.

The reserve is a sanctuary for elephants that move east from the Rwindi plains in the Democratic Republic of Congo and south from Queen Elizabeth National park by the start of the rainy season.
