The Uganda Martyrs Catholic Shrine is located in Wakiso District. It is approximately 16 Kilometers (9.9 mi) north-east of Uganda’s Capital Kampala. It is a place of worship affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church.

On 3rd june 1886, 32 young men were burnt to death at Namugongo on the orders of the then King Mwanga II of Buganda kingdom for their refusal to renounce Christianity. They were Anglican and catholic. Anually on 3rd June, Christians from Uganda and other parts of the world congregate at Namugongo to commemorate the lives and religious beliefs of the Uganda martyrs. Crowds on this day have been estimated in hundreds of thousands in some years. In 2015, an estimated 2 million people attended the event.
