Ngamba island having been started in 1998 turned 20 years in 2018 and an endowment fund to help support the long term sustainability of the sanctuary, care and welfare of the chimpanzee residents at Ngamba Island was set off. Surrounded by the peaceful waters of Lake Victoria, Ngamba island chimpanzee sanctuary is home to 49 orphaned chimpanzees rescued from across East Africa. These great and marvelous apes can be observed in a unique setting both during day and overnight providing a splendid and exceptional up-close view.
